RCB Director Highlights Kohli's Competitive Spirit
In Bengaluru, Karnataka, on June 1, the Director of Cricket for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mo Bobat, expressed admiration for star batsman Virat Kohli's approach to the game, emphasizing his preference for the "aggressive option" throughout matches.
Bobat shared his insights during the episode titled "Collective Excellence and Camaraderie: E02 RCB’s Journey to the Finale | IPL 2025" on the franchise's official YouTube channel.
During the discussion, Bobat remarked, "What I appreciate about Virat's mindset is that he consistently chooses the aggressive route rather than playing defensively. This attitude is crucial, especially during high-pressure moments in competitions. It might be tempting to play it safe, but Virat encourages a more assertive approach, which I find remarkable."
Dinesh Karthik also praised Kohli, likening him to some of the most committed athletes globally.
"Virat Kohli stands out as one of the game's true greats. I refer to him as pristine due to his exceptional work ethic. He ranks alongside legends like Kobe Bryant and Novak Djokovic," Karthik stated.
"His dedication to preparation is immense. The effort he invests behind the scenes contributes to his status as a pure, unfiltered, and high-caliber performer. This is what he has consistently delivered for RCB," he added.
So far this season, Kohli has played 14 matches, accumulating 614 runs at an impressive average of 55.81, including eight half-centuries and a top score of 73*. With a strike rate exceeding 146, he ranks as the fifth-highest run-scorer this season. He will have the opportunity to enhance his record in the upcoming title match against either the Mumbai Indians (MI) or Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday in Ahmedabad.
